Halloween is the kind of holiday that everyone can find a way to enjoy. Dress up, test your nerves, indulge in candy, visit a graveyard, or just hang out with friends at your favorite local spot — whatever your preference, there’s something going on all month long to ensure you find the Halloween event that’s right for you. Here are just a few 2018 Halloween events in Boston to choose from!
First off, you need a costume, so consider a visit to Dorothy’s Boutique at 190 Massachusetts Ave., near Huntington Ave., or head across the river to Cambridge to the Garment District at 200 Broadway at Portland Street intersection; Central Square T station, for a great range of costume choices. Regardless of where you go, go early to get the best selection and be prepared for some eye-opening options!
If you and your dog love to dress up, head to the Halloween Pet Parade at Faneuil Hall Marketplace on October 27 from noon to 2 pm. As well as a fun parade, you and your pet could potentially win one of the six prize categories that include Best Owner and Pet Combo, Best Local Boston Representation, Most Creative, and Top 3 Best of Show. Registration is required for this free event.
If you’re looking for lots of laughs and lots of gore, check out ImprovBoston’s GoreFest XV: Horror House. This musical comedy will gross you out with juvenile jokes, tasteless but catchy tunes, satire, mockery, and plenty of squirting blood (or red corn syrup, either way, don’t dress up, and consider wearing a poncho). This goretastic take on a fake reality tv show where The House Always Wins is performed at the ImprovBoston Theater October 19-31, at various times.
If you’re looking for some parties that combine horror, dancing, costume contests and more, the city’s bars and hotels are hosting a range of Halloween events. Most require tickets in advance. Among the events are Liberty Hotel’s (215 Charles Street) Interview with the Vampire party with costumes, DJs, and dancing on October 27. The Greatest Bar (262 Friend Street) is where you’ll find the 11th annual Haunted Mansion Halloween fundraiser, that includes music, scary costume prizes, and a party that covers all four floors.
If you’re more in the mood for a pub crawl, don’t miss the Fenway Pub Crawl that starts at 3 pm at Cheeky Monkey (3 Lansdowne St.) A few of the many other bars along the way include Loretta’s Last Call, and Lucky Strike, which also hosts the after party, featuring a DJ, costume contest and more.
The city is overflowing with events throughout the month, including the popular Ghosts and Gravestones Tour that combines a trolley ride and walking to visit the city’s scariest sites, including a couple of the oldest graveyards. These tours book up fast, so don’t miss your chance. Other events include the Black Pearl Halloween Cruise at Spirit of Boston, the Ghost Tour in Harvard Square, and the Pirate Ship Tour at Boston Harbor.
There are enough 2018 Halloween events in Boston to fill a graveyard, so you’re sure to find something to get you in a gory mood, so get your costumes ready and embrace your inner ghoul!
